first class spectator service

The Virgin London Marathon is an international sporting event, a tremendous personal challenge for the runners, and Britain’s main money raising event for charity. The flood of over thirty thousand runners, pouring through the streets of London like a tidal wave, is an amazing spectacle, which never fails to delight and impress the onlookers. We can expect about two million spectators to be watching the race, and at popular vantage points like Cutty Sark, you can expect the crowd to be standing six deep or more. The roar of the crowd certainly gives a tremendous adrenaline boost, but nothing beats having your own personal support team there for you at the Start and Finish, and with a bit of luck cheering you along the course as well!

Spectators travel to the Start with the runners and can see you off before making a leisurely stroll to see you near to Cutty Sark at six miles. Coaches then whisk them away to Pall Mall, near to the Finish and also near the 24-mile mark. It is possible for really determined spectators to see their runner start and finish.

I am aware that many people are not familiar with London and travelling around can be a daunting prospect. For this reason we have escorted groups for the walk from the Start to Cutty Sark. The escorts then accompany the spectator coaches to Trafalgar Square – we haven’t lost anybody yet!
